Embroidery Project / Surgery

~

This is an embroidery project that I started a few years back. I forget exactly why I stopped... maybe my bad wrist. Anyway... I hope to finish this project before the year is out. It is a dresser scarf. This is one of the side decorations. I finished both sides and have one of the end decorations started. The end decorations have this design with the addition of a bird on either side with the ends of the bow's ribbon in their beaks. There are a few stitches in this design that I have never done before, so a real learning experience.

I will have back surgery this next Tuesday (Nov. 11) I had hoped to avoid this surgery. I tried two different types of injections in the area and no relief. I need relief! It is so hard to walk or sleep.

I had surgery in this same area, L5-S1, in 1993. With degeneration there is basically no disc left and there is scar tissue on the nerve from the first surgery. The chances of me having relief from pain with this surgery is 70%. I'm sure with my family and friend's prayers and good thoughts my chances will increase. The doctor assures me that I will be no worse off with the surgery... and I pray he is correct. My stay in the hospital will be from 2 to 4 nights. I'm sure it will be a few days after coming home before I will feel like using the computer.

I am so grateful for each of you, my friends. I'll be back as soon as I can.

  1. Hi Zaroga,

That embroidered dresser scarf looks like it will turn out beautiful. I also love embroidery like this on pillow cases. :) Good luck on your surgery. I will send prayers your way. I have a friend who may have to go through a second back surgery as well. The good part is you get to be taken care of and and foot afterwards! :) My thoughts will be with you.

  3. Zaroga...I will be praying for you for this surgery to fix your problem and especially your problem with pain. I now all about pain and it is one of the worst things that I have had to deal with for these past 12 years...believe me I know. i think I am going to have to learn to live with mine. I so hope this surgery does it for you...Let us know how you are when you can..

  4. What a beautiful emboidery. I am sorry you are in so much pain and I hope and pray that the surgery goes well. I'll be thinking of you. I have degeneration in my lower back as well and I am always in some pain. I am not to the point of surgery but I can't stand on my feet for long periods of time. I "try" to be active as that seems to help.

  6. Oh, my Zaroga! Hate to hear of your surgery but I sure hope all goes well. Sometimes those surgeries do wonders so we'll just say our prayers and have faith that you come out good as new. Pain is not a good constant companion! My daughter-in-law has had back pain as long as I have known her. I wish she could have some surgery to fix her problem but the doctors can't find a reason for her pain. As bad as the surgery seems, it is a good thing you can find the problem and do something about it. Good Luck!

  9. Hey Zaroga! I hope your surgery went well and by now you are beginning to feel the benefits of it.
I too suffer from back pain. Mostly from over-doing it too often.
    Thinking of you!

  10. I hope your surgery went well Zaroga.
Both my husband and I have back problems so I know what it feels like to suffer with it.
Praying your surgery was successful, and that you're back on your feet soon.
